Every Sunday young Ahmad's (Brandon Hammond) family gathers for Sunday dinner at his grandmother's (Irma P. Hall) house. When Ahmad's grandmother falls into a coma, however, the family begins to splinter. Ahmad's Uncle Lem loses his job, Aunt Teri (Vanessa L. Williams) witnesses her husband having sex with her cousin, and Ahmad's mother, Maxine (Vivica A. Fox), attempts to keep the warring factions of her family together.
