Surreal, noirish mystery drama from Japan-based director John Williams that blends realism and fantasy, as a salesman searches for his missing wife. A devourer of mystery writer Jo Kuroda's novels, salesman Ariso (Koichi Sato)'s take on reality changes rapidly when, searching for his recently missing wife, aspects of the author's latest work, 'Starfish Hotel', start spilling over into his everyday life. Journeying further and further into the writer's alternative universe known as the 'Darkland', an affair he had two years ago with a mysterious girl suddenly re-emerges, and Ariso, struggling to come to terms with this new environment, finds himself desperately trying to stay within the plot.
