Stonewall Film Poster

A smalltown American arrives in New York in 1969 eager to become 'involved'. He meets a group of drag-queens and goes along to their favourite bar - Stonewall. The Mafia proprieter pays the police protection money so they do not raid the bar, but that night the bar is raided and the young man is arrested. He starts an affair with a Puerto Rican drag-queen and also becomes involved with a group of conservative homosexuals - the Mattachines. His two worlds inevitably collide as he tries to influence the Mattachines to make more positive action for their cause, the Stonewall bar is raided again, and a riot ensues signalling the dawn of the modern gay liberation movement.
