Biopic of the late country legend Patsy Cline starring Jessica Lange in the lead role. Charting the career arc of country music's most instantly recognizable female vocalist from town hall gigs to the Grand Ole Opry. The young Patsy is fairly well known locally as a town hall and tavern singer. After marrying the domineering Charlie Dick (Ed Harris) Patsy gives up singing as the stuff of kids and settles into a fairly unhappy married life. Dick is called into the forces, however, and Patsy lets her love of singing have free rein once again. Along with her manager and armed with a new self-confidence, Patsy quickly and definitely becomes established as a rising star in the business. Dick is less than enamored of the idea of a confident wife that's happy and brings home more than he can ever hope to earn and, almost predictably, becomes abusive towards her.
