Szindbád Film Poster

Synopsis

Zoltán Huszárik directs this classic of Hungarian cinema, adapted from the writings of Gyula Krúdy. Highly stylised, elegaic and surreal, the film recounts the life, loves and memories of ageing dandy and womaniser Szindbád (Zoltán Latinovits) as he looks back on a life centred around sensual pleasures and hedonism. However, as Szindbád passes into old age and faces up to the reality of his own mortality, he realises too late that his aversion to emotional attachment has left him with a life devoid of real love or meaning.
