Documentary that explores the increasing popularity of tattoos, particularly in the United States. Narrated by Corey Miller of 'LA Ink', the documentary sets out to discover what transformed tattoos from a counter-culture statement associated with those on the fringes of society to a means of self-expression so common it is thought that a third of US adults under-40 now have at least one tattoo. Particular focus is placed on three pioneers of a new style of tattoo associated with the Chicano community in East LA, Charlie Cartwright, Jack Rudy and Freddy Negrete. The film also features celebrities famed for their tattoos, such as actor Danny Trejo and Blink 182's Travis Barker.
