Triple bill featuring three popular horror movies. In 'The Amityville Horror' (2005), on November 13, 1974, Suffolk County Police received a frantic phone call that led them to 112 Ocean Avenue in Amityville, Long Island. Inside the large Dutch Colonial house, they discovered a horrific crime scene that shattered the landscape of the typically peaceful community: an entire family had been slaughtered in their beds. In the days that followed, Ronald DeFeo, Jr. (Brendan Donaldson), confessed to methodically shooting his parents and four siblings with a rifle while they slept, claiming 'voices' in the house drove him to commit the grisly murders. One year later, George (Ryan Reynolds) and Kathy Lutz (Melissa George) and their children moved into the house thinking they'd found their dream home. But shortly after settling in, bizarre and inexplicable events began to occur - nightmarish visions and haunting voices from an evil presence still lurking within the house. Confused and frightened by her daughter Chelsea's (Chloe Moretz) cryptic interaction with an imaginary friend named Jodie (Isabel Conner), Kathy struggles to hold her family together as George's increasingly strange behavior finds him spending days and nights in the basement of the house, where he soon discovers a passageway to a mysterious and gruesome 'Red Room.' With lucid visions and evil voices swirling through George's head, the house comes alive in a terrifying climax that finds him carrying out the spine-chilling events that would become forever known as The Amityville Horror. 'Silent Hill' (2006) is set in the eerie and deserted town of Silent Hill where a young mother is desperate to find a cure for her only child's illness. Unable to accept the doctor's diagnosis that her daughter should be permanently institutionalised for psychiatric care, Rose (Radha Mitchell) flees with her child, heading for the abandoned town in search of answers and ignoring the protests of her husband (Sean Bean). It's soon clear this place is unlike anywhere she's ever been. It's smothered by fog, inhabited by a variety of strange beings and periodically overcome by a living Darkness that literally transforms everything it touches. As Rose searches for her little girl, she begins to learn the history of the strange town and realises that her daughter is just a pawn in a larger game. In 'An American Haunting' (2005), between the years 1818-1820, the Bell family of Red River, Tennessee was visited by an unknown presence that haunted the family. What started as small sounds around the farm and the sighting of a black, yellow-eyed wolf escalated into physical brutality against certain family members. Fearing that the haunting was caused by a local woman who had been branded a witch, the Bells tried desperately to find ways of undoing what they thought to be the woman's curse, presumably placed upon the family in retaliation for a land dispute. Despite their efforts the attacks escalated. It was not until a manuscript of the local schoolteacher, who lived on the property during the disturbance, was found in 1998 that the horrifying and shocking answer to what caused this haunting would finally be unveiled.
