Synopsis

Korean historical drama directed by Seung-wan Ryoo and starring Jung-min Hwang and Su-an Kim. In the closing months of the Second World War, Korean prisoner and former bandleader Kang-ok (Hwang) and his young daughter Sohee (Kim) are captives in the Japanese internment camp on Hashima Island, known as Battleship Island. There, women of all ages are prostituted for their overseers and men are worked to exhaustion mining coal. Kang-ok, Sohee and their fellow prisoners will do whatever they can to survive but their ultimate goal is to escape, and a political prisoner interned at the camp becomes a figurehead for the prisoners and their plot.
