Three popular comedy movies. 'The Beverly Hillbillies' (1993) is an updated adaptation of the popular sixties American series. Jed Clampett is the pot hunter who takes a shot at a rabbit and strikes oil thus making the hicks-from-the-sticks family instant millionaires. Jed's nephew then announces on TV that Jed is looking for a new wife, there is a rush of female gold-diggers and it is up to Granny to protect the family fortune. 'The Pirate Movie' (1982) is an 1980s Aussie teen parody/spoof of the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta 'The Pirates of Penzance'. It follows the story of Mabel (Kirsty McNichol), an awkward and shy teenager who fantasises about romance, adventure and popularity after meeting Frederic (Christoper Atkins), a curly-haired and debonair young man dressed as a pirate at an exhibit in the amusement park. The film retains six (slightly altered for comic effect) songs from the original operetta, along with a host of slightly more rock 'n roll numbers. In 'Bushwacked' (1995), Max Grabelski (Daniel Stern) is a delivery man who likes to dress well; he also likes to bend the rules whenever he can but always seems to end up in the wrong place at the wrong time. When he is set up for murder he goes on the run posing as a Ranger Scout leader. But he and his army of scouts must stick together and survive in a place where Max has never been before.
