This 1950 film about the Berlin Airlift starts in a semi-documentary style before giving way to tell the stories of two fictional U.S. Air Force men caught up in events. Sgt. Hank Kowalski, played by Paul Douglas, has a hatred of Germans that proves resistant to change, while Sgt. Danny McCullough (Montgomery Clift) seeks the affections of a beautiful German war widow. His pursuit leads him to experience the seamy side of postwar Berlin.
