A box set of dark comedies. 'The Birthday Girl' is set in England although it was filmed in Australia (so that its star Nicole Kidman could be near her then husband Tom Cruise while he filmed 'Mission Impossible 2'). After ordering a mail order bride (Kidman) from a website called From Russia With Love, a bank clerk (Ben Chaplin) finds his beautiful companion is actually quite dangerous; especially when she moves her 2 cousins into the house. In 'Honeymoon in Vegas', despite promising his mother on her deathbed that he would never marry, Jack Singer (Nicolas Cage) agrees to wed his girlfriend Betsy (Sarah Jessica Parker) in Las Vegas. However, once there he falls into a rigged gambling situation and loses her in a poker game to a high roller (James Caan) who thinks she is the spitting image of his dead wife. When Jack then realises that the game was a con, he forgets all about his anti-nuptial neuroses and sets out to win back the woman he loves. Whilst in 'Lucky Break', following a failed bank robbery, affable crooks Jimmy (James Nesbitt) and Rudy (Lennie James) find themselves locked up for a lengthy stretch in HM Prison Long Rudford. The pair soon discover that the prison governer has written a musical based on the life of Nelson, and offer to stage the show for him, thus providing themselves with cover for an escape attempt. However, as the night of the big break approaches, Jimmy's fledgling romance with prison support worker Annabel (Olivia Williams) threatens to cause problems.
