Abel Ferrera co-writes and directs this American drama. Struggling to adapt to his new life of fame, successful actor Matty (Matthew Modine) has developed a drink and drugs problem and decides to move to Miami to escape the pressures of Hollywood. He also proposes to his girlfriend, Annie (Béatrice Dalle), but she turns him down. He then decides to spend the evening with his friend Mickey (Dennis Hopper), a nightclub owner, and get down to some serious partying. During the evening's revelries Matty meets a waitress also called Annie (Sarah Lassez) and introduces her to Mickey but blacks out soon after. A year on, Matty has sobered up and is living in New York with another woman, Susan (Claudia Schiffer). However, he cannot get his ex-girlfriend out of his mind and wants to tie up loose ends so returns to Florida looking for Annie. But he is met by some chilling news from Annie the waitress.
