Synopsis

Woody Allen wrote, directed and stars in this screwball romantic comedy set in 1940s Manhattan. Allen plays C.W.Briggs, a veteran insurance investigator who, along with his co-worker Betty-Ann Fitzgerald (Helen Hunt), is hypnotised at a magic show one night by master criminal Volton (David Ogden Stiers). The cunning magician then uses the hapless pair to steal priceless jewels from wealthy homes all over town - as well as making them fall deeply in love with one another, which causes more than a few complications, not least because Betty-Ann is already romantically involved with their boss, Chris (Dan Aykroyd).
