Double bill of Japanese supernatural horror. In 'The Grudge' (2003), volunteer home helper Rika Nishida (Megumi Okina) begins working for Sachie (Yui Ichikawa), a catatonic old woman slowly dying in her filthy and neglected home. She immediately senses that there is something creepy and disturbing about the atmosphere of the house. Her suspicions prove to be right when the old lady dies and the horrific past of the house is uncovered. In the sequel, 'The Grudge 2' (2003), the 'Ju-on', or supernatural curse, of the two murdered victims still resides in the house where they were killed. When a horror film actress, who has survived a car accident that killed her unborn child and put her husband in a coma, films a documentary at the house, the curse returns. Kyoko (Noriko Sakai) watches in horror as all the members of the documentary production team are killed off one by one, until only she remains. It soon becomes clear that the child she thought she lost in the car accident might not be dead after all, and might somehow be responsible for the awakening of the curse.
