Crime drama directed by William A. Wellman and starring Dana Andrews, Gene Tierney and June Havoc. Igor Gouzenko (Andrews) is a Soviet cipher clerk assigned to work at the Soviet embassy in Ottawa, Canada in 1943. He and his wife Anna (Tierney) are given a cover story which they must stick to firmly, even when questioned by their fellow Russians. While Igor can stick to the story thanks to the distraction of his work, Anna finds this more difficult as she mingles with the people around her and realises they are no different to herself and her husband. As Igor's work continues and the war ends, he comes to question whether the world his work is building is the kind of world he wants for his newborn child.
