Kirk Douglas and Rock Hudson star in this 1960s western from director Robert Aldrich. Wanted for murder, Brendan O'Malley (Douglas) flees to the house of his former girlfriend, Belle (Dorothy Malone), where she lives with her husband, ranch owner John Breckenridge (Joseph Cotten), and their 16-year-old daughter, Missy (Carol Lynley). The family are preparing to leave for a cattle drive to Texas and the rancher employs O'Malley to assist them. Sheriff Dana Stribling (Hudson) is hot on the outlaw's trail but, when he catches up with him, he decides first to journey with the travellers to Texas before taking in his man. Along the way, Stribling falls for Belle and O'Malley gets involved with Missy, creating tensions among the group and leading to the unveiling of a dark secret.
