Former stage director, Gregory Mosher's first feature film attempts to expose the underbelly of corporate America. Whizz-kid telemarketer 'Penny' Wise (Vince Vaughn) finds himself jobless and penniless after the company he was working for goes under. He is approached by Caitlin Carson (Julia Ormond), who is recruiting for Kelly Grant (Ed Harris), a legend in the industry, to work on a new venture selling shares in a gold mine. Grant's reputation is not altogether clean and Penny has his doubts before joining the team, but soon becomes the star salesman. His doubts never entirely leave but it may be too late for Penny to get out as he becomes more involved with Grant and used to the fat bonus cheques.
