Synopsis

Ti West directs this tense horror thriller. Patrick (Kentucker Audley), a photographer for VICE magazine, is joined by his co-workers Sam (AJ Bowen) and Jake (Joe Swanberg) when he travels to Eden Parish, a secluded religious commune where his estranged sister Caroline (Amy Seimetz) now lives. Patrick and his friends believe that the commune, which is home to a large number of devout followers, will provide them with a worthy story for an upcoming publication and are eager to arrange meetings with the other inhabitants, including 'Father' (Gene Jones), the idealistic leader. As they begin conducting their interviews, they soon learn that not all is well within the closed community and are surprised to hear that a number of inhabitants feel they are being held against their will. The situation then takes a sinister turn when 'Father' learns that Patrick and his friends have agreed to help those who wish to leave...
