Synopsis

Drama starring Minnie Driver as a journalist attempting to get to the bottom of a series of brutal murders in a Mexican border town. Karina Danes (Driver), a journalist with an LA newspaper, heads to the town of Ciudad Juarez on the US-Mexico border after hearing of the rape and murder of an alarming number of young women from the area. Convinced that the local police aren't doing enough to tackle the crimes, Danes teams up with a local priest, Father Herrera (Esai Morales), and a political activist, Patrick (Angus Macfadyen), and determines to get to the bottom of the murders. The investigation takes a surprising twist when the trio encounter Mariela (Ana Claudia Talancón), a survivor of one of the attacks who believes that she has been visited by the Virgin Mary. As Mariela becomes a symbolic figure in the town, Danes becomes increasingly convinced that the girl holds the key to the case, but will they unlock the mystery?
