Sidney Hayers directs this 1960s realist drama starring Ian Hendry, June Ritchie, John Hurt, Annette Andre and Mike Pratt. Based on the novel by Nan Maynard, the film is set in Jubilee Close, a distinctly unglamorous street in the Battersea district of London. Margery Graham (Ritchie) is desperate to escape the street and her loveless marriage. When her mother, who also lives in Jubilee Close, takes in charming lodger Harry King (Hendry) Margery believes she may have found the person who can bring her a new life. However, though Harry is happy to begin an affair with Margery, does he see her as part of his long term plans?
