Synopsis

Dominga Sotomayor Castillo directs this award-winning drama set in Chile following the turmoil of a family holiday that seems certain to end in divorce. The family in question is comprised of mother Ana (Paola Giannini), her husband (Francisco Pérez-Bannen), their ten-year-old daughter Lucia (Santi Ahumada) and her seven-year-old brother Manuel (Emiliano Freifeld). They depart for the four-day break on Thursday and the tension between the parents quickly escalates to the point where it becomes clear, even to the children, that Sunday may well mark more than the end of the holiday. As the bleak landscape through which they travel begins to feed into the family's mood, the youngsters seek refuge in the dreams of escape a holiday affords, but will their childish fantasies survive the trauma of a parental separation?
