Wanda Film Poster

A young woman seemingly with no control over her life is divorced by her husband, wanders into the path of a petty crook and becomes his accomplice. The film was the debut, and only film, of star and director Barbara Loden, and was highly influenced by the French Nouvelle Vague movement, which itself was influential on later American classics - including Terence Malick's 'Badlands'. The gritty realism gave a new slant to the violent youth on the road type movie, far removed from Arthur Penn's 'Bonnie and Clyde'.
