Sophia Loren plays three different women in Vittorio de Sica's film, which is divided into three episodes. In the first, 'Adelina of Naples', Loren plays a poor wife avoiding jail by constantly keeping herself pregnant by husband Marcello Mastroianni; in 'Anna of Milan' she is a wealthy, flirtatious industrialist's wife; and in 'Mara of Rome' she is a call-girl whom a seminary student tries to reform. Academy Award Winner for Best Foreign Film in 1963.
