Prepare for your patriotic heart to once again swell with pride as 'the people behind "Calendar Girls"' bring us this very British tale of a failing business, drag queens and some rather unique footwear. 'Inspired' by a true story, the action follows Charlie Price (Joel Edgerton), heir to a traditional Northampton shoe business. Although Charlie's not all that keen on shoes, when his father passes away he reluctantly takes up the managerial reins ,only to discover that the company is in serious trouble. However a light appears at the end of his tunnel in the rather muscular shape of Lola (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a drag queen in need of reliable and comfortable footwear. So the pair devise a plan to exploit this rather niche market - if some boots were made for walking, then theirs were made for tottering! But not everyone in the small market town - and in Charlie's factory - is comfortable with the six foot plus Lola.As with "Calendar Girls", there's no denying that "Kinky Boots" is a warm and entertaining movie. It certainly examines the drag queen world far more competently than the likes of "Connie And Carla", while Ejiofor is a revelation in his fishnets and six inch heels. But maybe the problem with this kind of provincial feel good film - a genre we Brits seem to excel at - is that it doesn't offer any surprises any more. You can tell exactly how the plot is going to resolve itself right from the off, and you get the feeling that the producers may have done just as well if they'd lowered their expectations and settled for a TV movie which would invariably have starred the likes of Martin Clunes and Lesley Sharp.But that said "Kinky Boots" will undoubtedly raise a smile, and have cinemagoers around the world cooing about how quaint and adorable we British are.

googleTrackerHelper.doTrackPage( '/'Kinky-Boots-film_options~17197'/Reviews/ViewAll/1' );"}
