This is the amazing true story of three half cast aboriginal girls, who lived along the rabbit proof fence that ran from the north to south coast of 1930's Australia. Ripped from the clutches of their parents they were relocated 1600 km north to a camp run by the Chief Protector of the aboriginal people Mr Neville (Kenneth Branagh), in an effort to 'civilise' them! The girls, two sisters and their young cousin aged between 14 and 8, escaped and undertook a journey along the fence across the harshest landscapes on earth as they made their marathon journey home, pursued by an aboriginal tracker with Terminator like persistence.The three girls - all first time actors - give stunning performances and Branagh superbly portrays a character that, despite being referred to as Mr Devil by the girls, isn't intrinsically evil: this is a man that, albeit mistakenly, believes what he is doing is the right thing. Director Phillip Noyce is to be commended for not patronising his audience by turning the film into too blatant a political statement, instead he allows this beautifully filmed story to give his audience a retrospective view of a shameful time in Australian history.

googleTrackerHelper.doTrackPage( '/'Rabbit-proof-Fence-film_options~17294'/Reviews/ViewAll/1' );"}
