A domesticated Grizzly and a free-spirited mule deer find themselves in the great outdoors - jst as a bunch of hunters with big guns are given free licence to shoot them - in this new CGI family comedy. Already a huge hit in the States, "Open Season" centres on Boog (voiced by Martin Lawrence), a domesticated Grizzly who, when he's not performing for visiting tourists, lives a life of luxury in the garage of a local Wildlife Ranger. But when he saves Elliot (voiced by Ashton Kutcher), a deer strapped to the hood of the local baddy's car, his luxurious life takes a turn for the worse. Soon the pair are having to survive in the wilds - and that's not easy when everyone from the skunks to the squirrels seem to have it in for you! But what makes things worse is that hunting season is due to start any day, and there's one armed huntsman in particular who is out for Boog and Elliot's skins. We've certainly be treated to a glut of animated anthropomorphized animals recently ("Over The Hedge", "The Wild") but fortunately "Open Season" is a step ahead of it's peers thanks to a witty script, some slightly irreverent humour (those poor bunnies!) and a general sense of fun. Lawrence and Kutcher prove a decent double act - despite the fact they never actually met while recording their lines - while the animation is clear and colourful, a 'must' when it comes to entertaining the film's target audience. Throw in a conclusion that plays out like "Gentle Ben" meets "Braveheart", along with some valuable lessons about conservation and teamwork, and "Open Season" proves to be both family friendly and fun for all ages.

googleTrackerHelper.doTrackPage( '/'Open-Season-film_options~19084'/Reviews/ViewAll/1' );"}
