Joann Sfar's imaginative biopic charts the tumultuous life of singer Serge Gainsbourg. The film begins with Serge as a precocious child in Nazi-occupied Paris where he struggles to live up to the expectations of his Russian-Jewish parents, Joseph (Razvan Vasilescu) and Olga (Dinara Drukarova). He becomes a singer-songwriter (now played by Eric Elmosnino) and falls in love with Elisabeth Levizky (Deborah Grall), who becomes his first wife. A high profile affair with Brigitte Bardot (Laetitia Casta) becomes the talk of the French media but that ends and Serge meets English singer and actress Jane Birkin (Lucy Gordon), with whom he duets on the scandalous love song, Je T'aime... Moi Non Plus. Their marriage is both passionate and destructive and Jane struggles to hold the relationship together while her husband seems hell bent on killing himself with cigarettes and booze.

googleTrackerHelper.doTrackPage( '/'Gainsbourg-film_options~24509'/Reviews/ViewAll/1' );"}
