Africa is an epic land of fire and ice home to some of the world's most iconic animals and the most mysterious landscapes. WILDEST AFRICA journeys through this fascinating and diverse continent to uncover some of the world's most breath taking natural wonders. The Congo and it's hidden world harbours a diverse collection of plants and animals including; forest buffalo, bongo, forest elephants, gorillas and chimpanzees. Next stop is Lake Turkana, A lake that appears to be barren is revealed to support abundant life, and to be home to some of the most diverse human cultures in Africa. It's not just land species that call Africa their home, Fifteen per cent of the world's coastal marine species are found on the Cape. What brings such extraordinary abundance to this unique coastline? Our journey takes us east to Madagascar, an island of extremes, where life has adapted and diversified to such an extent that the terrain is now home to some of the world's weirdest animals. A visit to Africa would not be complete without a stop in the Sahara, stretching for millions of miles, the world's largest desert receives little rainfall and temperatures fluctuate wildly. How do people and animals flourish here? Reaching high into the sky at Africa's equator, Mount Kenya stretches up into the troposphere. How does life survive on these harsh slopes? The River Nile is the world's longest river and flows from the heart of Africa into the Mediterranean Sea. What feeds this inexhaustible river to make its waters so fertile? Our last stop is East Africa, how do the uniquely diverse, ancient peoples of Ethiopia coexist in harmony alongside wildlife found nowhere else in the world?
