In a small Iranian mountain village near the Iraqi border, Kurdish children Ameneh, Ayoub and Madi struggle to earn a living. When the doctor tells Ayoub that Madi needs an urgent operation, Ayoub begins helping local smugglers lead mule-trains over the mountains in an attempt to raise the necessary money.
