Bernard Rose directs this drama based on the novella by Leo Tolstoy. Faced with financial problems, arrogant property speculator Basil (Danny Huston) decides to give up the rest of his Christmas holiday with his family when he hears of some tasty bank foreclosures that are up for grabs in the wilds of Colorado. Convinced he can turn a handsome profit whilst his competitors are still on their holidays, Basil hires local taxi driver Nick (Matthew Jacobs), who has just been kicked out by his wife, to drive him around the remote properties. But as night falls and the weather closes in, the pair soon find themselves in a fight for survival, as their car becomes trapped and fate conspires to test them to the limits.
