In this 1920 classic silent movie a man named Francis and his best friend Alan and Alan's fiancee Jane go to a fair. They meet Dr. Caligari who exhibits a somnambulist named Cesare that predicts the future. Cesare tells Allan he will live until dawn. Cesare's prediction comes to pass and Alan is murdered. Cesare is the main suspect. Cesare abducts Jane and is chased by the townspeople. Cesare ends up dying of exhaustion. Dr. Caligari flees and Francis tracks him down to a mental asylum. Secretly Caligari was the asylum director who hypnotizes Cesare to re-enact murders.
