John Day (Richard Dix) is convicted for embezzlement after falling into debt because of the extravagant habits of his wife, Dorothy (Madge Evans). While he is in prison George Hollins (Conway Tearle), a businessman, makes a play for Dorothy by offering her a job in his office. Dorothy becomes more and more involved with Hollins leaving the maid, Mamie (Una Merkel), the only one still loyal to John. Kate Lovett (Isabell Jewell), Hollins' former lover is wild with jealousy and eventually shoots and kills Dorothy. Hollins takes the blame and ends up in prison with Day who is determined to get his revenge.
