Elise Müller was thirty-two years old when she met Théodore Flournoy at a spiritualist séance that she was giving in Geneva. It was 1894, the reputation of the medium was in the ascendant and Flournoy has just been given the chair of psychology at the faculty of Geneva. Their meeting marks a radical turning point in the career of the medium who then produced, over a period of more than six years, two pieces of fiction matched by the invention of imaginary languages. Documentation of this story exists in the form of reports of spiritualist séances written by one of Flournoy’s collaborators. It is from these documents that the text spoken by the actors in the film has been constructed. –Pointligneplan
