Upbeat Australian comedy about a country boy's quest for Nashville stardom. Sheep farmer's son Ralph (Matt Day) has always dreamed of making it as a country and western star, so when his parents hand him a plane ticket to Nashville, he grabs his guitar and sets out hitching on the road to Sydney. Like a lamb to the slaughter, Ralph is quickly picked up by jaded, done-it-all-before, drugs crook, Boyd (Richard Roxburgh), and his gorgeous redhead girlfriend, Patsy (Miranda Otto), who just happens to be a fine singer to boot. Ralph's luck runs out when the group is pulled over by the police. Even though Boyd is driving a stolen car and carrying drugs, he implicates his young passenger, causing them both to be arrested and thrown into the local jail. Now with the perfect opportunity to hone his country songwriting skills, Ralph sets about trying to get back on the road to Nashville.
