Dracula Film Poster

Hungarian actor Bela Lugosi reprised the stage role of Dracula for the first big screen adaptation of the Bram Stoker classic. British solicitor Renfield (Dwight Frye) accompanies Count Dracula from his Transylvanian home to England where he immediately sets about seductively turning the young Yorkshire gentlewomen into vampires. However, his bloodlust is challenged by Professor Abraham Van Helsing (Edward Van Sloan), who knows exactly who he is. Director Tod Browning's impressive adaptation drew on an early, illegal version - FW Murneau's Nosferatu - and set the template for the scores of bloodsucking variations to come.
