Box set containing three epic action movies. 'Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003) is based on the novels by Patrick O'Brian and is set during the Napoleonic Wars. After conquering much of Europe already, Napoleon's forces have set their sights on taking Britian, so Captain Aubrey (Russell Crowe) and the crew of his ship, the HMS Surprise, take to the Pacific to intercept any attacking ships from the French fleet. When Aubrey eyes a renegade French super-frigate, the Surprise pursues, leading to an adrenaline-charged chase through the distant reaches of the sea. 'Braveheart' (1995) is set in 14th century Scotland where the English nobles are staking their claim for lands and the Scottish throne. When William Wallace (Mel Gibson) is left an orphan by the brutality of the English, he vows to make Scotland strong again. Wallace grows up into a paradox of a man - on the one hand very well educated, on the other a ruthless killer and barbarian. As an adult he succeeds in uniting the Scottish clans to fight the English oppressors, and is only undone by betrayal and greed. Finally, in 'Dance With Wolves', in the year 1864, Lieutenant John Dunbar (Kevin Costner) requests an assignment to a remote outpost in the American West. Spending a lot of time by himself, Dunbar falls in love with the frontier, and becomes firm friends with the local Lakota Indians. Before long he finds himself contravening direct orders when he helps his new friends in their battle against the Pawnee.
