Garbage Dreams Film Poster

Documentary looking at the effects on an entire class of people in Cairo of modernising the city's rubbish disposal system. For generations the Zabbaleen, a Christian minority in Egypt, have made their living from collecting and sorting the city's waste with pride and precision, recycling apporoximately 80 percent of the rubbish they collect. This film follows the fate of three Zabbaleen youths as their way of life comes under threat from the city's decision to grant contracts to foreign waste collection companies.
