Triple box set featuring three movies directed by Ken Russell. In 'Gothic' (1986), in 1816, poets Byron and Shelley, Byron's doctor Polidori and Shelley's mistress Mary Godwin (later to become his wife) gathered in a villa on Lake Geneva and dared each other to write ghost stories. The results were Polidori's 'The Vampire' and Mary Shelley's 'Frankenstein'. 'The Rainbow' (1989) stars Sammi Davis as Ursula Brangwen, a young woman in the process of discovering her sexuality. At school she enjoys a passionate affair with the gym mistress Winifred Inger (Amanda Donohoe), and later becomes a teacher herself. But when she meets and marries the soldier Anton Skrebensky (Paul McGann), it gradually becomes clear to her that true satisfaction lies elsewhere. In 'Women in Love' (1970), best friends Rupert Birkin (Alan Bates) and Gerald Crich (Oliver Reed) spend much of their time analysing love, especially when they meet two sisters (Glenda Jackson and Jennie Linden). While Rupert loves then marries one of them, Gerald and Gudrun's relationship is not so straightforward.
