Documentary from film-maker Margy Kinmonth in which she offers an insight into St. Petersburg's State Hermitage Museum and its many collections. The film explores the history of the museum which, prior to being founded in 1764 by Catherine the Great, was home to Russian monarchs. The footage captured gives the audience access to areas of the museum that are normally closed off to the general public and features some special works of art by, among others, Rembrandt, Michelangelo and Matisse. Tom Conti gives a special voice performance and museum director Professor Mikhail Piotrovsky, sculptor Antony Gormley, architect Rem Koolhaas and many others offer their contributions to the documentary.
