Mike Figgis' partly-improvised drama about a film crew who come to Venice to make a movie version of John Webster's 'The Duchess of Malfi'. The filmmakers assemble at the Hungaria Hotel, where director Trent Stoken (Rhys Ifans) begins putting the actors through their paces, and tries to deal with the fact that one of his key players is about to desert him. Meanwhile, Stoken's producer Jonathan Danderfine (David Schwimmer) plots a takeover attempt; TV presenter Charlee Boux (Salma Hayek) arrives in town to film a making-of documentary; and the hotel staff pursue a strange vampiric agenda, which is responsible for the disappearance of various prominent guests.
