Jonestown Film Poster

Stanley Nelson directs this chilling documentary about cult leader, the Rev. Jim Jones, and his large group of followers who lived in a jungle compound (known as 'Jonestown') in Guyana in the late 1970s. When Congressman and impassioned human rights advocate Leo Ryan travelled to the isolated rainforest location to investigate allegations of physical and sexual abuse within the cult and rumours of a planned mass suicide, he became one of over 900 victims in one of American history's most horrific mass murders. Stanley Nelson talks to those who experienced the tragedy of Jonestown personally, including survivors, defectors and the families of the dead.
