During the Second World War in the Black Sea city of Zonguldak, twenty-something poets Rustu Onur and Muzaffer Tayyip Uslu fall head over heels in love with Suzan, daughter of prominent businessman Zikri. The writers agree a wager. Rustu or Muzaffer will both pen Suzan a poem and ask her to read their verse. Whichever composition she chooses as her favourite will determine whether Rustu or Muzaffer can woo her.
