La Frontera Film Poster

Successful Chilean film that won the Silver Bear Award at Berlin in 1992, and is one of the first to address the disappearances and relocations by the government during the seventies and eighties. Ramiro is a maths teacher who, because of a union demonstration, is relocated to a remote and desolate village, cut off from the 20th century, where nature and the elements control the inhabitants lives. Ramiro is subjected to petty harrasments but eventually takes up with the beautiful Maite. Escape and redemption almost seem possible but a huge storm is blowing up.
