After winning the coveted Best Film prize at the Havana Film Festival New York earlier this year, this Cuban feature has been making its mark internationally. The drama follows two modern habaneros whose deepest desires steer them in very different directions. Middle-aged busboy Miguel dreams of leaving Havana for New York, but waits for a visa seems like it will never arrive. Diego, who is HIV-positive and in poor health, dreams only of staying alive. These men share a home, but while one lies low the other strives to stay open to whatever possibilities life still holds. The film will be introduced by Michael Channan, Professor of Film and Video at Roehampton University and specialist in Cuban cinema.
