Triple bill of legend and romance. In 'Legends of the Fall', US Cavalry officer Colonel William Ludlow (Anthony Hopkins) takes early retirement after despairing of the Government's treatment of the Western Tribes. In the remote foothills of the Montana Rockies he builds a ranch where he brings up his three sons. When the youngest son Samuel (Henry Thomas) returns from the city with beautiful fiancée Susannah (Julia Ormond), she attracts the admiration of Alfred and Tristan, his two brothers (Brad Pitt and Aidan Quinn). After one of their number is lost in the First World War, the surviving sons return home to rebuild their lives - and fight once more for Susannah's love. 'First Knight' is a dramatisation of the Arthurian legend. Guinevere of Leonesse (Julia Ormond) prepares to enter the Royal Court of Camelot through marriage to its King, Arthur (Sean Connery). This union will provide protection for her country from the evil Malagant (Ben Cross), but it is also one based on true affection. However, en route to the castle, Guinevere happens upon the dashing warrior Lancelot (Richard Gere), a meeting which stirs passion in them both. Lancelot is drawn to Camelot by his desire for the Queen-to-be, where the unsuspecting King Arthur makes him a knight of the legendary Round Table, a decision which could lead to his downfall. 'The Slipper and the Rose' is a musical retelling of the famous fairytale Cinderella. In the kingdom of Euphrania, young Cinderella (Gemma Craven) lives a life of misery with her wicked stepmother (Margaret Lockwood) and two stepsisters. When a Great Ball is thrown in honour of the Prince (Richard Chamberlain), the forlorn Cinderella dreams of attending - only to have her wish granted by her Fairy Godmother (Annette Crosbie). At the Ball the Prince meets and is smitten by Cinderella, but the path of true love does not run smooth...
