Les Boreades: Opera National De Paris Film Poster

This is a performance of Jean-Philippe Rameau's opera 'Les Boreades' directed by Robert Carsen. It is the story of Alphise, a young queen who is to be forced into marriage with a descendant of Boreas, but Alphise would rather give up her throne than even give it time for consideration. This feisty story is sung in French, features modern dance ensemble La La La Human Steps and has an all-star cast of 140 all dressed in 1940's Dior-inspired costumes. A documentary on the background of the production is also included which has interviews with the director, the conductor William Christie and stars Barbara Bonney, Paul Agnew and Laurent Naouri.
