Four-part documentary series which examines the ancient kingdoms of Africa. In 'Nubia' presenter Gus Casely-Hayford journeys into the desert north of Khartoum in search of a kingdom that may have been lost due to climate change. 'Ethiopia' offers an examination of the history of Ethiopia and particularly the impact of religion on the country. 'Great Zimbabwe' sees the team follow an ancient gold-trading route. Finally, 'West Africa' follows Gus and his team to Nigeria and Mali as they search for the origins of the Benin bronzes held in the British Museum.
