When she is assigned to write a guide to love and sex for the modern woman, journalist Kate Wells (Famke Janssen) begins thinking back over her own past relationships. Beginning with her first playground kiss, and moving all the way from her tryst with a high-school French teacher to her latest affair with a brain-dead B-movie actor, Kate's romantic life has been a disaster. However amidst all her failed loves there is her soul-mate Adam (John Favreau). He is the one man she keeps coming back to, but as they have tried and failed to live as a couple before, is there really any chance of true romance developing between them?
