Two action movies both based on the 1974 film 'The Longest Yard'. In 'Mean Machine' (2001), Danny Meehan (Vinnie Jones) is a disgraced English football captain who, following some trouble with the law, gets landed with three years in Longmarsh prison. After winning the trust of his fellow inmates, the soccer star begins coaching their football team for a big match against the guards. However, as the kick-off approaches, the prison governor (David Hemmings) orders Danny to throw the game - either that or find himself charged with the murder of fellow inmate Doc (David Kelly). 'The Longest Yard' (2005) revolves around pro quarterback Paul Crewe (Adam Sandler) and former college champion and coach Nate Scarboro (Burt Reynolds), who are both doing time in the same prison. Asked to put together a team of inmates to take on the guards, Crewe enlists the help of Scarboro to coach the inmates to victory in an American Football game 'fixed' to turn out quite another way.
