A Brad Pitt double bill. In 'Meet Joe Black' (1998) media tycoon William Parrish (Anthony Hopkins) is approaching his sixty-fifth birthday when he encounters Death (Pitt) himself. Parrish is offered a few extra days of life if he allows the Grim Reaper into his home and, keen to finish off an important company merger, agrees, introducing his new guest to friends and family as Joe Black. Joe begins to fall in love with Parrish's daughter, Susan (Claire Forlani), who is engaged to Drew (Jake Weber), Parrish's deputy. When Parrish decides against the merger, Drew stages a boardroom coup and attempts to oust the tycoon. In 'The Mexican' (2001) Jerry Welbach (Pitt) is in a dilemma. His mafia boss has ordered him to go to Mexico and collect a priceless antique pistol called 'The Mexican', while his girlfriend Samantha (Julia Roberts) has demanded that he finish his association with the mafia altogether. What should he do? Jerry opts to go to Mexico, and when he finds the pistol without any bother, he thinks his luck might finally be turning: but Samantha is then kidnapped by Leroy (James Gandolfi), a gay hitman who wants assurance that the pistol will be returned safely, and Jerry has to go to the rescue.
